Hi fellas,
it's me, Julivius, reporting in from Ende. It's been a while, hasn't it? It's my longest record of keep moving around. For the last three months, three weeks is the longest time I stay in the same place.
Quick recap this month
I was supposed to be back in the Netherlands this month but because of late incoming research funding, we just started the data collection this month. I am currently on a small island in the eastern part of Indonesia. We're measuring WASH behavioral factors, specifically related to safe drinking, handwashing, and toddler feces handling.
Interesting thing - Revelation
Because of the funding delay, I have much time for myself. I've just realized in early November that I felt inferior and jealous after I graduated last August. You see, most of the people that I look up to were continuing their life without a hitch, like getting a new job or taking a vacation. At least, that's how I saw it. The problems here are, one, I compare myself with people that I look up to which would naturally put the average bar higher than my baseline, and two, I judged others that they have a smoother life which might not be true.
I am still disappointed in the funding delay. I do find the reflection helpful. I find part of my old self. I gain my confidence in being unique and being ignorant. Shouldn't compete when we're not in competition. smh.
Another interesting thing - Photo dump
I mean - it's worth bragging.
A thousand dollars idea
Just a quick thought. It's good but not good to be a million dollars idea. What if we create a platform intentionally for arguments? I would imagine articles that could be chained to one another. Articles that could explicitly oppose or support other articles. I imagine it to be like medium but you can have the option to layout multiple articles that talk about the same thing in one go.
Thank you
Thank you for following my journey. We (me and the other me) hope you find something fun to read and think about.
Your random friend,
Julivius
